In a turn of events I was genuinely not prepared for, after Fate/Extra Record announced its new publisher, Aniplex, and developer Meteorise helping TYPE-MOON studio BB earlier this week, we have an official release date for the title as of September’s State of Play Japan. I had fully expected a longer delay, especially with the news that Director and planner Kazuya Nino has left studio BB for personal reasons, and pausing game development as a whole, stating present health concerns as a key factor in that decision.
I’m a bit baffled by what feels like a surprising turnaround, with Fate/Extra Record having been in development for a long while, and a noticeable change from the original title’s “Rock Paper Scissor” combat system to a card battle set-up, and at least one character name change, although I suspect that’s to limit potential name confusion, considering the character’s role in the story, and apparent new role as a shopkeeper.
Anyhow,Fate/EXTRA Record will, as of this writing, at least, release on January 28, 2027. Been waiting a long time to not have to resort to the Vita for Extra and a fresh Nero playthrough, personally.

My memory's spotty, to say the least, but gaming's been a major part of my personal life from my younger years, where it was directly responsible for my fingers becoming functional. I've owned every notable Sony console, but started with the Sega Genesis, and I'm still slightly annoyed by the Dreamcast's lifecycle going the way that it did.
