Nationfall's first military layer is now playable: stable construction, cavalry recruitment, unit selection and movement tests with groups of up to 20 riders.

Until now, most of Nationfall's playable loop was economic: choose Tunisia, select a region, found a settlement, gather resources and build.
This week we added the first military branch. The player can complete a stable, spend food and wood to recruit light cavalry, select one or several riders, and issue movement orders.
We tested the system with up to 20 selected units. The mechanic works, but the visual test exposed new problems. Dense formations overlap, selection circles become noisy, and interface text competes with the battlefield.
The next pass will focus on cleaner spacing, clearer unit groups and stronger feedback when an order is accepted. This is still an in-development test, not final combat.
Which problem should we solve first: formation spacing, unit readability or scale?
