Proton Experimental brings new fixes for Helldivers 2, BeamNG.drive and more

Valve released the latest upgrade for Proton Experimental bringing a fresh set of fixes for Windows games on SteamOS / Linux for October 30th.

So what exactly is Proton Experimental? Here's a little refresher for you - it's a compatibility layer to run Windows games on Linux systems like Steam Machine, Steam Deck and Desktop Linux. Proton Experimental is their testing ground for future stable numbered versions of Proton, the most recent being Proton 11.0-2. However, there's also a Proton 11.0-3 release candidate currently in testing to become the next stable update.

All the changes are below:

Key Changes

• Now Playable: Gray Raven, Crown Trick
• Fixed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered having long load times after death when game controllers are plugged in.
• Fixed mouse wheel scrolling in METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES.
• Fixed Way of the Hunter 2 and other games having issues on setups without Nvidia GPUs due to dxvk-nvapi presence.
• Fixed BeamNG.drive crashing with their Vulkan renderer after a recent game update.
• Fixed issue where multiple instances of Xalia were running in parallel.
• Fixed Valor Mortis displaying driver GPU warning with AMD GPUs.
• Fixed random crash in Helldivers 2 after a recent game update.
