Smartphones might not be the best place for playing an FPS, but there are still some brilliant ones out there on the Play Store. So much so that we thought we’d pick the best Android shooters and let you know about them.
There are military shooters, sci-fi shooters, zombie shooters, and… well that’s about it, really. We’ve got single-player games, PvP and PvE experiences, and everything in between.
The Best Android Shooters
Let’s go!
Call of Duty: Mobile – 4.2 Score On Google Play
It’s hard to argue that this isn’t the best FPS on mobile. It’s super slick, there’s always a game waiting for you and the violence is brilliantly balanced. If you haven’t played it yet, you probably should.
UNKILLED – 4.3 Score On Google Play
The days where every game involved killing zombies might be over, but Unkilled is still a fine example of undead slaughter done just right. It still looks delightful, and the shooting is just the right side of obscene.
Critical Ops – 4.4 Score On Google Play
Another traditional military shooter. It might not have the budget of CoD, but there’s still a load of fun to be had in its tightly spaced arenas and plentiful guns.
Shadowgun Legends – 4.3 Score On Google Play
This one takes a similar shape to Destiny, but throws in a bunch of slapstick humor, a fame rating and more as well. The shooting is pretty much perfect, and there are plenty of missions to blast your way through.
Into the Dead 2 – 4.4 Score On Google Play
An auto-runner that sees you sprinting through the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. You can pick up guns as you go to take down the hungry hordes and while the shooting isn’t the focus, it’s integral if you want to survive.
Guns of Boom – 4.0 Score On Google Play
A team-based blaster with a neat rhythm to it and a pretty big player base to beat. It isn’t perfect, but if you want to jump in and start shooting things it’s a pretty good place to start.
Blood Strike – 4.4 Score On Google Play
Whether you’re a massive battle royale enjoyer, or you prefer something a bit more squad-focused, Blood Strike is a solid free-to-play choice. It comes with plenty of content, it gets regular new stuff, and it’s not going to turn mid-spec phones into something hot enough to toast a sandwich on.
DOOM – 3.9 Score On Google Play
Okay, sure. At this point you can play it on a calculator and a pregnancy test, so it would be way more surprising if you couldn’t fight the forces of hell on Android. But y’know, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. There are still hours of brutal demon-slaying fun to be had and it’s an excellent way to vent a bit of stress.
Gunfire Reborn – 4.3 Score On Google Play
The shooter genre can get a little samey in its presentation. Fortunately, you have some breaths of fresh air like Gunfire Reborn. This cute and stylized cartoon animal shooter lets you hop in by yourself or with friends and shoot, fight, and loot your way to success.
Pixel Gun 3D – 4.3 Score On Google Play
Similarly, if you want a shooter that feels a bit like it takes place in the world of Minecraft, there’s always Pixel Gun 3D. There are tons of different weapons, and lots of game modes, and a decent selection of minigames too. So much to do.
DOOM II – 4.1 Score On Google Play
Is this cheating a little? Oh well, we don’t care. It’s a great game and brings everything you need as a fan of the old classics. It comes with not only the game as it arrived with its original release, it also comes with a bunch of the best community levels from the game’s fantastic user content scene, which is a real treat as it’s a little trickier to implement these outside of a PC version.
