Shoot balls to make smaller balls in UPSHOT, an upcoming FPS that sounds like quite a funny idea for some casual fun with friends.

The developer emailed GamingOnLinux to mention: "UPSHOT is a 1–4 player co-op arena shooter. We grew up playing Bubble Trouble, and we always wondered what it would be like if our friends could play it with us. So we made UPSHOT. Every ball you shoot splits into smaller ones, and your team has to clear the room before time runs out".

More about it:

UPSHOT is a 3D arena shooter where every ball you hit splits in two. Big balls bounce around the room. Hit one and it breaks into two smaller, faster balls. Hit those and they break again. Pop every last one before the clock runs out to clear the room, then move on to the next. No two rooms are built the same. Each one has its own layout, its own obstacles and its own surprises, and the balls bounce differently in every one of them. Every fifth room, a giant boss ball drops in. It soaks up bullets, spits out smaller balls and slams the floor, sending out shockwaves you have to jump over.

Beat a boss and you unlock a checkpoint for your run. Popped balls drop gift boxes, and you never know what's inside. It could be a new weapon, extra time, an extra life, a shield or a moment of slow motion. Weapons range from pistols and shotguns to crossbows and blades, and each one changes how a room plays. Play solo or team up in 4-player co-op. Go down, and a teammate can pull you back up. More players means more balls, so the challenge grows with your squad. Friends can even join after the match has started, as long as there's a free spot. Meet in the lobby, shoot some hoops while everyone gets ready, and celebrate a cleared room with an emote.
