William Wallace is back from the dead. Unfortunately, he has decided that the best way to liberate Scotland is to invade England.

Today I’m officially announcing Graveheart, a fast-paced retro first-person shooter set in 1980s Britain, combining old-school FPS action with British comedy horror.

After two scientists perform an ill-advised experiment involving the skull, sword and shield of William Wallace, the legendary warrior returns alongside an entire undead 13th-century Scottish army.

You play an ordinary British soldier initially sent to rescue a group of half-witted reporters trapped behind enemy lines. What begins as a straightforward extraction rapidly escalates as Wallace marches south, raising the dead and spreading his curse to everything in his path—including trees, statues, military hardware and, in a serious blow to an already unreliable service, the trains.

At the heart of Graveheart is the Cursed Arsenal. Damaging enemies charges your current weapon until the curse automatically forces you onto the next one. You cannot simply rely on a favourite gun: you must keep moving, adapt to the upcoming weapon and make the best of whatever the curse gives you.

The game features:

• Fast, arcade-style retro FPS combat
• A constantly rotating arsenal of cursed weapons
• Undead Scottish soldiers and increasingly bizarre possessed enemies
• Short, replayable levels with difficulty options and gameplay modifiers
• Fully voiced characters and a British comedy-horror story
• A focused 2–3 hour campaign built for replayability

A playable demo is currently being prepared for Steam Next Fest in October 2026, with the full game planned for Q1 2027.

If Graveheart looks like your particular cup of cursed tea, watch the teaser and add the game to your Steam wishlist.
