It's long been known that Grand Theft Auto VI would initially launch as a single-player game when it arrives in November 2026, and there has been no indication of when an actual GTA VI Online would launch. However, recently, Dan Clancy, CEO of Twitch, revealed in an interview with Bloomberg that he expects a "big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer," suggesting that GTA VI Online will launch in 2027.
The executive explains that he had spent time "talking with Rockstar about their plans," which doesn't necessarily mean that the information is 100% accurate—and even if it were, we've seen GTA VI's launch date move several times, by now—but it is a reasonably credible source for the information. In a previous interview with IGN, Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick suggested that the original GTA Online would receive support long into the future, even if GTA Online 2, as it were, was already released.
